What is a Sinus Lift?
A sinus lift, also known as sinus augmentation, is a surgical procedure that adds bone to your upper jaw in the area of your molars and premolars. The bone is added between your jaw and the maxillary sinuses on either side of your nose.
"To make room for the bone, the sinus membrane is moved upward, or 'lifted.' This is a critical procedure for patients who have lost bone in their upper jaw and need dental implants."
?When Is It Needed?
- Insufficient bone height in upper jaw
- Naturally large sinus cavities
- Bone loss from tooth loss or periodontal disease
- Preparation for upper jaw implant placement
+Benefits
- Enables successful implant placement in upper jaw
- Restores bone structure and facial aesthetics
- Provides long-term solution for tooth replacement
- High success rate with proper care

The Sinus Lift Procedure
Evaluation & Planning
Comprehensive examination including 3D CBCT scans to assess sinus position, bone quality, and determine the optimal approach.
Surgical Procedure
Under local anesthesia, a small window is created in the bone wall of the maxillary sinus. The sinus membrane is carefully lifted, and bone graft material is placed in the created space.
Healing Period
A 4-9 month healing period allows the bone graft to integrate and mature, creating a solid foundation for dental implants.
Implant Placement
Once healing is complete, dental implants can be placed in the augmented area, providing a stable foundation for your new teeth.
